Jongsung OH wurde 1987 in Seoul, Südkorea, geboren und lebt heute in Köln. Er studierte an der Seoul National University bei Uzong Choe sowie an der Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar bei Prof. Michael Obst, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Kreppein und Prof. Seven Daigger.
Er gewann zahlreiche internationale Preise, darunter den 1. Preis beim 7. Internationalen Kompositionswettbewerb des Molinari Quartetts in Montréal (Kanada) sowie den Hauptpreis des „4. Krzysztof-Penderecki-International Competition for Young Composers“. Darüber hinaus wurde er mit dem 2. Preis beim „22. Internationalen Kompositionswettbewerb im Rahmen des Weimarer Frühlingsfestivals für zeitgenössische Musik 2021“ ausgezeichnet. Im Jahr 2022 erhielt er den „Thüringer Kompositionspreis“ und wurde als Stipendiat der Peter-Eötvös-Stiftung ausgewählt.
Seine Werke wurden weltweit bei verschiedenen Festivals uraufgeführt und in Auftrag gegeben, darunter die „Liszt Biennale“ (DE), das „Krakow Composers Festival“ (PL), das „Impérial Annecy Festival“ (FR), das „Symphony Festival“ (KR), „Spotlight on Composers“ (HU), das „Weimarer Frühlingsfestival für zeitgenössische Musik“ (DE) und das „Tongyeong International Music Festival“ (KR). Seine Musik wurde zudem im Großen Saal des Wiener Musikvereins anlässlich des 130-jährigen Jubiläums der diplomatischen Beziehungen zwischen Korea und Österreich aufgeführt.

Jongsung OH was born in 1987 in Seoul, South Korea, and currently lives in Cologne. He studied at Seoul National University with Uzong Choe, and at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar with Michael Obst, Ulrich Kreppein, and Seven Daigger.
He has won numerous international awards, including First Prize at the 7th Molinari Quartet International Composition Competition in Montréal (Canada) and the Grand Prize at the 4th Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition for Young Composers. He was also awarded Second Prize at the 22nd International Composition Competition as part of the Weimar Spring Festival for Contemporary Music 2021. In 2022, he received the Thüringen Composition Prize and was selected as a fellow of the Peter Eötvös Foundation.
His works have been commissioned and premiered at festivals worldwide, including the Liszt Biennale (Germany), Krakow Composers Festival (Poland), Impérial Annecy Festival (France), Symphony Festival (South Korea), Spotlight on Composers (Hungary), Weimar Spring Festival for Contemporary Music (Germany), and Tongyeong International Music Festival (South Korea). His music was also performed in the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Austria.
