Biography 
Francisco Domínguez was born in Alcolea de Calatrava, Spain, in 1993. He studied composition with Gabriel Erkoreka at Musikene, Spain, where he finished his bachelor’s degree with an honorific mention. Afterwards, he continued his studies with Beat Furrer and Klaus Lang at the Kunstuniversität Graz, Austria, completing his studies with an honorific Mention. He also had classes and masterclasses with Helmut Lachenmann, Ramon Lazkano, Hèctor Parra, Alberto Posadas, Rebecca Saunders and others.                                                      
He has got numerous prestigious international awards, including the award of the College of Spain in Paris (XXVI edition), the first award at the competitions Pablo Sorozabal (XV edition) and Francisco Escudero (VII and IX editions), the third award at the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award (2020), and honourable mentions at the Franz Schubert competition (X edition) and the Composition Competition for Young Composers of SGAE Foundation (XXVI edition).                  

In 2016 he took part in the Academy of the Foundation Peter Eötvös, where he received classes from Peter Eötvös and Toshio Hosokawa. In the same year, 2018, Peter Eötvös chose him to participate in the Gargonza Arts Artistic Residence (Germany-Italy). He was selected to join the Mentoring Programme of the Peter Eötvös Foundation, in which several of his works are performed in collaboration with the Danubia Obuda Orchestra and the ensemble Ars Nova, among others. In 2023 he will join the artistic residency Herrenhaus in Edenkoben (Germany) on the advice of the maestro Eötvös.

His music has sounded in prestigious festivals such as BBVA, IMPULS and the Juan March Foundation. Besides, he has worked with renowned performers such as Iñaki Alberdi, Michael Faust, Henri Bok, L’Instant Donné, THReNSeMBLe, Schallfeld Ensemble, Trio ZUKAN, BilbaoSinfonieta, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danubia Obuda Orchestra, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra and the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. He has also gotten involved in several recording projects with the IBS and SINKRO labels.
Besides musical creation, he has also carried out numerous collaborative orchestration projects and the recovery of old works. He is now working on recovering the first opera written in Basque, Pudente.       

Complementary to his compositional activities, he finished a bachelor’s degree in Viola at Musikene, having studied with David Quiggle and Natasha Twitch.
